A vital risk is taking a business with absolutely no money, just to make it grow. As an entrepreneur, this is standard practice.

You have to assume certain risks in order to grow your business. That's the nature of the beast.

Let's first look at a few examples of taking such risks.

First example: the business of selling greeting cards. It is a tiny business, but you can expect to pay 30 cents per greeting card to the company selling you cards on average. On average, you will receive 70 cards per shipment. The cards can be the same cards sold by major greeting card companies like Texaco, General Motors, etc. This is a risky business because you are not sure if there are more customers for the same product.

That's why you have to assume risk in selling this type of product.

The second example: the business of online marketing. People will either buy your products or not. Sometimes they will purchase your product but not for the reason you thought they would. At other times, people will buy your product and not even bother to try your company. This is a very risky business. On average, you will pay 2.5% of the total sale for paying affiliates. In other words, you pay an affiliate a couple of dollars when your product sells, you pay an affiliate another couple of dollars, and if it doesn't sell, you pay an affiliate another couple of dollars. It is a risky business, but it is an exciting business as you will get a return on your investment. The return may not be enormous, but it will be better than nothing.

The third example: the business of Internet advertising. You know what this is, right? It is the business of advertising and selling things online. You can use all the big-name companies like Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, etc. However, the average cost per click is 6-12$. You pay these companies 2-3$ per click. Then you pay the affiliates an average of 3$ per click. So if you pay an affiliate 2 dollars per click, you have about 10$ in your pocket to advertise and sell products.

So, in conclusion, to succeed in this business, you have to become aggressive. You have to expect that you will pay a couple of bucks in advertising fees to get about 10$ in profit. It is a risky business, but it is an exciting business nonetheless.
